How to Make Cannabis Tea

Nowadays, cannabis has become more mainstream and accepted in many countries, and people are finding new and exciting ways to enjoy its benefits. One such way is by making cannabis tea, a hot and soothing beverage that can be consumed for both recreational and medicinal purposes. In this guide, we’ll show you step-by-step how to make cannabis tea at home and provide some helpful tips to ensure that your brew is both tasty and potent.

Choosing the Right Type of Cannabis:

Before you begin, you must first decide which strain of cannabis you’d like to use. The strain you choose will determine the effects of your tea, ranging from a relaxing, calming experience, to a more uplifting, energizing feeling. Sativa strains give a more energetic and cerebral high, while Indica strains are more relaxing and mellow. If you’re looking for a more balanced high, then consider a hybrid strain. Ensure that you source your cannabis from a reputable dispensary or grower that you trust.

Decarboxylation:

Before making your tea, you’ll need to prep your cannabis by decarboxylating it. Decarboxylation is a process that activates the THC and other cannabinoids in your cannabis buds, making them more bioavailable. Simply bake your buds in the oven for around 30 to 40 minutes at a low temperature, between 212°F and 240°F. Make sure to allow them to cool before grinding them into a fine powder.

Brewing your Cannabis Tea:

Next, you’ll need to prep your cannabis-infused milk or butter. You can use regular dairy milk if you prefer, but we recommend using full-fat milk or cream for maximum potency. To make cannabis-infused milk, heat 1 quart of milk on low to medium heat while stirring occasionally. Once heated, add your ground cannabis into the milk and simmer for 45 minutes to an hour, stirring frequently. Then strain out the plant material and allow it to cool before using it in your recipe.

For making cannabis tea, simply bring your desired amount of water to a boil in a small pot. Add your favourite tea bag(s) and let it steep for a couple of minutes. Then add in your infused milk, making sure not to boil it, which can harm the potency of your cannabinoids. Add honey, sugar, or any other flavouring of your choice, and enjoy your cannabis-infused tea.

THC Dosage:

Depending on the potency of your cannabis tea, the effects can vary from mild to strong. Beginners should start with a mild dose of 5-10mg of THC, while experienced users can take up to 50mg. Start with a small dosage, wait for a few hours before increasing it, and always consume responsibly.

Cannabis tea is a delicious, comforting, and effective way to consume cannabis. By using the simple recipe we’ve provided, you can create your cannabis-infused milk or butter and use it to make multiple cups of tea. Remember to start slowly with your dosing, and keep an eye on how you feel to ensure that you have the desired effects. As always, safety is crucial, and we encourage you to consume cannabis responsibly and only in places where it is legal. With this guide, you can enjoy the therapeutic benefits of cannabis tea from the comfort of your own home.
